   Let’s get to know (認識) more about Teacher Jimmy’s hometown (家鄉), which is Sydney (雪梨). It is a really beautiful city and one of the great seaports (海港) of the world. Sydney has a temperate climate (氣候變化) which is similar to Taiwan’s climate. It is built around a harbor (港口).  You can enjoy incredible beauty of two attractions (景點) - the Sydney Opera House (雪梨歌劇院) and Circular Quay (環形碼頭). Teacher Jimmy said that the local people in Sydney really like to listen to opera, such as“Cats”.

   What’s more (而且), Sydney has a diverse ethnic population (多元種族人口). This has created a colorful lifestyle (多采多姿的生活方式). You can taste exotic food (異國料理). In fact, Asian food is really popular here, especially Thai food (泰國菜), Vietnam food (越南菜), Indian style curry (印度風味咖哩), and Chinese food (中國菜).

   On the other hand (另一方面), before Teacher Jimmy came to Taiwan, he had a good time in Leshan (樂山) (China). Leshan is the historic capital of Sichuan province in China. It is famous for its 2000 of years Buddhism Culture (佛教文化). The world-famous Leshan Giant Buddha (樂山大佛) is here!

   Teacher Jimmy said that in his free time he likes to go around the city and feel the beauty of the city. To him, the Chinese New Year of (新年) February 2012 was an amazing experience. He was fascinated by (被吸引) the numerous lights in the streets of Leshan. The food in Leshan is something you should try: Tianpiya (sweet skin duck甜皮鴨), Malatang (麻辣燙) cannot be more delicious.

   It is pleasure to know more about him! 

A Flexible Teacher: Jimmy Gorimar ( By Stephanie)

    
   It’s our honor to introduce a flexible teacher to you. His name is Jimmy Gorimar and he was born in India.  Jimmy has stayed in Australia for fifteen years. He is a new English teacher at Happy Elementary School. He’s very friendly.  Jimmy has been teaching English for many years.

   Through the short interview with Jimmy, we can know that he has had a lot of teaching experiences. His teaching background is also broad. Not only the kids, but also the adults could be his students. He has had different types of teaching experiences in USA, India, Australia, China and Taiwan. Jimmy can teach Mathematics, English, Business English, English Culture and Architecture(建築).  

   It’s good to know that Jimmy can speak different languages, like: Hindi(印地語), Gujerati(古吉拉特語), French and English.  He can also read some Chinese words and sing some Chinese songs.

   You can learn English, music, art and gain some knowledge about the world from Jimmy. If you want to learn more, just try to pay attention in class. I believe that Jimmy will help you a lot. Just enjoy learning English in Jimmy’s class.

   By the way, don’t be shy to say hello to Jimmy. He is really nice to everyone.

Hobbies: Stamp collecting, Drawing, Painting.

Pastime: Watching movies, Walking, Listening to music,

                  Surfing the Internet.

Favorite Book: Books on cosmology.

Favorite Movie: Funny movies, Science documentaries.

Favorite Song: Classical music, Pop music of the 60’s .70’s. 80’s.

Favorite Food: Curries with rice and chicken.

英語村老師---Peggy

Peggy老師是在台灣出生長大的，她在12歲時移民到澳洲；為了與住在台北的家人有更多相處的時間，她決定回來台灣定居。

其實她沒想過自己會從事教師這份工作；直到她考上新南威爾斯大學的時候，因為很喜歡美術的關係，加上她認為美術教學是件有趣的事，決定試著去念美術教育系，並成為一位老師。

她覺得台灣是個很好的國家，有著很不錯的生活環境，但是她不喜歡台北濕濕冷冷的氣候。她也很喜歡台灣的料理，跟澳洲的料理有大的不同，就是味道比較清淡，沒有那麼重口味。但她還是很愛澳洲的甜點，雖然甜點非常的甜。

因為澳洲的氣候相對溫暖，因而養成去海邊游泳的習慣；除此之外，她也做瑜珈鍛鍊身體。閒暇之餘，會去逛逛街、看電影或是電視影集，其中最喜歡的節目是美國一部以政治人物為題材的電視連續劇-紙牌屋。

英語村老師---Edwin

     Edwin老師出生於美國費城，後來移民到菲律賓宿霧市，他有一個兒子，為了給他有個好的學習環境，選擇來到台灣生活。

Edwin老師曾在美國、南韓和泰國任教過，因為想運用自己的才能跟知識幫助別人，所以決定成為一位老師。

Edwin老師的興趣是看電影跟唱歌，因為過去住在菲律賓的關係，老師也練過幾首菲律賓的歌曲；除此之外，老師會抽空跟著兒子一起學習中文跟中華文化，在周末假期帶著他拜訪新竹的朋友。

他覺得台灣是個美好又友善的國家，尤其是這裡有許多美味料理，他喜歡水餃、麵食和炒飯；但是他不太喜歡豆腐料理，除了韓式辣胡椒燉豆腐。

英語村老師---Darryl

         Darryl老師來自美國密蘇里州的堪薩斯城，待在台灣已經有六年半的時間，在快樂國小英語村擔任老師已經三年半，是這裡資歷最久的外籍老師，過去他在美國也是位老師，為了體驗不一樣的生活，選擇來到台灣生活。

          Darryl老師的興趣有閱讀、看電影跟運動；他會打羽毛球、網球以及跳有氧舞蹈來維持身體的健康；除此之外，他也喜歡拳擊運動。

          在台灣的第一個聖誕節，也是Darryl第一次沒有與家人團聚吃飯，而他的台灣朋友為了不讓他覺得孤單，邀請他一起去吃火鍋慶祝聖誕節；在那之後他每次吃火鍋都會想起那時候的事，以及他的好朋友。

英語村老師---Gilkey

 Gilkey是我們這學期新來的英文老師，從美國佛羅里達州的清水市來到台灣，以前曾在我國台南市、南韓及土耳其任教過，他認為老師是份很棒的工作而且也喜歡跟小朋友互動，所以才選擇成為一位老師。因為第一次來台灣時，他發現台灣是很美麗的國家，人們都很快樂跟友善，所以他才會再次來這裡。

 Gilkey的興趣是健行和踢足球，喜歡戶外運動的他，覺得這裡是個美麗的島嶼，有著漂亮的高山跟溪流，在台灣的這段時間，已經去過了玉山跟阿里山，他期待下一次有機會能到雪山看看。

 除此之外，他也品嘗過不少台灣的美食，其中他最喜歡的菜餚就是牛肉麵；也嘗試過我們著名的小吃-臭豆腐，但他說不太想再吃第二次了！
